Christian hospitality for groups in the Galilee

Experience a casual yet meaningful meeting between Christian visitors to the Holy Land and local Christian families living in the village of Illabun between Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee.

Meet with some of the villagers at the 600-year-old village Church built on the path that Jesus took from Nazareth to Capernaum.

Hear their stories about living as Christians in Israel and get a glimpse of the lifestyle of Israel's small Christian Arab community.

Continue on for a tour of the ancient heart of the village.

Enjoy a breaking of the bread and a traditional light meal in the home of one of the village hosts.

The meal includes pita bread with different toppings, baked in a tabun oven, 2-3 fresh and cooked salads, shulbatta (bulgur wheat cooked with vegetables and tomato paste) or frikke (smoked green wheat). Soft drinks, coffee and tea, and seasonal fruit for dessert.

  • Meal can be upgraded to a full Middle-eastern banquet including all of the above, with the addition of seasonal local vegetables (mulchya or okra in summer, wild winter greens in winter), stuffed vine leaves, stuffed summer gourd or zucchini cooked in yoghurt, maklouba (meat, vegetables and rice pilaf) and sinye (meat kebabs cooked in tehina). Dessert - locally made baklava or k'naffeh.
