Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal A has opened. Covering 780,000 square meters, it is one of the largest airport terminals in the world. The $3 billion building doubles the current airport’s capacity and can manage up to 45 million passengers per year.
The terminal has been designed to create seamless connectivity and is equipped with advanced biometric technology paving the way for a travel experience tailored to individual passengers.
At the centre of the new terminal is Sana Al‐Nour, a unique structure and the largest public artwork in the Middle East. The impressive new Etihad lounge spans three floors with some of the gates offering direct boarding from the lounge.
The building itself has won a number of prestigious awards for its modern and functional design, and recently featured in the latest Mission: Impossible film. The terminal is environmentally friendly incorporating energy and water saving technology, and a large solar plant instillation.
